• Become Versed in Craps – Tips and Schemes: The Past of Craps

Be cunning, play clever, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately one hundred years old. Current craps developed from the old English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody knows for certain the origin of the game, but Hazard is believed to have been invented by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It is presumed that Sir William’s horsemen enjoyed Hazard amid a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was acquired from the citadel’s name.

Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when expelled by the English, the French headed south and located safety in southern Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their favored game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it mathematically fair. It’s believed that the Cajuns changed the name to craps, which was derived from the name of the bad luck toss of two in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi barges and all over the country. A good many acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the father of current craps. In 1907, Winn developed the current craps layout. He added the Don’t Pass line so gamblers can wager on the dice to lose. At another time, he established the boxes for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
