Be brilliant, play cunning, and discover how to play craps the right way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves date back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is only about 100 years old. Current craps evolved from the ancient Anglo game called Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the origin of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It’s supposed that Sir William’s knights wagered on Hazard through a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.
Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when banished by the English, the French moved down south and discovered sanctuary in southern Louisiana where they a while later became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns changed the title to craps, which is gotten from the name of the losing toss of two in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi scows and all over the nation. A few acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In 1907, Winn assembled the current craps layout. He created the Don’t Pass line so players could bet on the dice to not win. Afterwords, he designed the spots for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
