Be smart, play cunning, and master craps the proper way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves date back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps developed from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the birth of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It’s theorized that Sir William’s knights played Hazard through a siege on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortification’s name.

Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when driven away by the British, the French headed down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they took their best-loved game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns altered the name to craps, which was acquired from the name of the losing toss of two in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi river boats and throughout the country. A good many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the father of current craps. In 1907, Winn built the current craps layout. He created the Do not Pass line so players could wager on the dice to not win. Afterwords, he created the boxes for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
